Fall 2010 Bloggers Start with a Bang!

I just finished grading the first blog entries of the semester, and I am very impressed with the level of quality as a whole.  The class average was 16 points out a possible 18.  I have individually commented on each of your posts and will share those with you in class tomorrow in writing.  I would like to share some general comments.

  • Spend less time summarizing the text.  Try and limit your summary to a paragraph.  Think in terms of beginning, middle, and end of the book.
  • Reflect more on the the weekly topic.  For instance, there was little discussion in many posts about the Caldecott Medal itself.  This will improve your score in content.
  • Don't be afraid to let your readers hear you.  Yes, you are working within the structure of a rubric but you can still be an out-of-the-box thinker.
Congratulation bloggers!  You have worked hard and it shows.
